There are really few bands which can combine
various musical kinds. Darzamat is very best at
it and has been doing it since the moment it
appeared on the musical stage, so already for as
long as 14 years.
The
musical source of the band lies in symphonic
metal. However, with every new record Darzamat
has interlaced various new elements, creating
this way the style characteristic for itself.
Joining different stylistics and sorts of metal,
the band has not forgotten, however, about the
atmosphere of dusk being very close to the band.
The band owes its name to the Slavonic mythology
where Darzamat is a deity protecting and
guarding gardens and forests. This very
symbolism is permanently present in band's
compositions and melts into their musical
creation on the textual, musical as well as
visual level.
After
releasing the two albums "In Flames of
Black Art"(1997), "Oniriad"(2003)
as well as MCD "In the Opium of Black
Veil"(1999), in year 2003 the band
underwent the personal revolution. Only the
vocalist Flauros remained from the initial
lineup. It was in those times when the core of
Darzamat came into being, which apart from
Flauros is constituted by the vocalist Nera, the
guitar player Chris and the keyboard player
Spectre. With the record
"Semidevilish"(2004), Darzamat began
the new stage in its history. The fresh material
neatly combined black and death metal with the
dusky atmosphere characteristic of a band.
Yet,
what appeared to be a huge musical leap in the
band's history was the fourth album entitled
"Transkarpatia"(2005). What had a
great impact on this success was undoubtedly the
album's producer, namely Andy La Rocque, the
guitar player of the cult King Diamond. Thanks
to the work in the Swedish "Los Angered
Recording", the album gained a surprizing
selectivity as well as the power of each and
every instrument's sound. The positive reception
of Darzamat's music resulted in multitudinous
invitations on concerts. During short time the
band presented itself on various European
festivals ("Rock Harz Open Air",
"Wave Gothic Treffen", "Hard Rock
Laager", "S-Hammer Festival",
"Last Night on Earth", "Dong Open
Air", "Moscow After Midnight" or
"Metal Head Mission"). Apart from the
concerts in Poland, Darzamat appeared also on
the stages in Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Italy,
France, Belgium, Holland, Estonia, Czech
Republic and Slovakia.
At
the beginning of 2007 the band performed on the
German Winternachtstraum Festival and a month
later in front of a nearly six-thousand audience
during the XXI edition of the cult festival
Metalmania. Both the concerts were registered
for the needs of the first oficial DVD album
"Life Profanity(Visiting the Graves of
Heretics)", which in the half of the year
2007 was released both in Europe and in USA.
In
April 2009 Darzamat has inked a worldwide deal
with German Massacre Records. The group’s
fifth album „Solfernus’ Path” is scheduled
for release on August 28th. In Japan album will
be released by Spiritual Beast. “Solfernus’
Path” is the first concept album in band’s
history.
