In 2002, the band released the MCD “A Monument
to the Suffering” via Grindethic Records, a
re-working and re-recording of their demo
material as well as showcasing new, more
engaging and altogether darker material.
DETRIMENTUM then embarked on the long journey of
honing their sound further and building the
works that would become their defining debut
“Embracing This Deformity”.
After the
departure of Jon Rushforth (Drums) in October
2008 they began writing material for a second
album. The band were later joined by Steve
Powell (THEOKTONY, ANAAL NATHRAKH) on the drums
thus
completing the line-up.
Exhibiting the
band’s exceptional depth and maturity in
composition, the new material crafts an
unconventional mix of old-school death metal
combined with expansive doom passages and
sweeping guitar work that forces assimilation of
their infectious music into the listener’s
mind. DETRIMENTUM’s style juggles a percussive
avalanche of skullcrushing brutality with
melodic majesty, tortured lyrics along with a
truly monstrous vocal delivery.
The band’s live
performances are a must-see event that have been
described as “…like a freight train and
literally rape your aurally debilitated mind
with a highly combustible, gut wrenching death
metal assault of magma-like intensity”
(Terrorizer Mag, Issue #100).
