Ixpapalotl's roots, trace back to the late 90's. We used to play together in several different death/grind /black metal bands concluding in a band we called Carnal Demotion, featuring 4/5 of our current lineup. The inheritance of these days still remains with Ixpapalotl. At 2001, due to some unfavorable circumstances we froze our music activities.
Around 2006-2008 we did some home jamming sessions with anyone who happened to pass from Kj's home studio, and knew how to hold a guitar or a drum stick. The recordings of that period can be found in our “1000000 Christians...” blog section. At October 2008 we decided that we should make Ixpapalotl a steady band. So the old Carnal Demotion reinforced by our close friend and old bandmate Nol, joined together again, in order to unleash the suppressed fury of all those years. At the same time we discovered that we had the best studio in the world just 20-30 steps from our homes. That was an evil scenery... So in June 2009, we recorded our first official release, “That of the Swamp” EP in Unreal studio. The result makes us proud.
At the time being we are writing new stuff and plan to do live shows.
Ixpapalotl is the Queen of Tomoanchan, one of the Cihuateteo (night demons) and tzitzimime (star demons) of the Aztec mythology. All in all, a rather evil and unpleasant chap...
